Dockside Brewing appoints new Brewmaster

January 18, 2010

Dockside brewing on Granville Island in Vancouver has appointed a new brewmaster to possibly take over from Peter Haupenthal. Daniel Knibbs will now be heading the brewing operations at the brewpub.

The two years I’ve attended the Great Canadian Beer Festival I made a few stops at Dockside’s stall to drink their Jamaican Lager. It’s brewed with hibiscus concentrate. A recipe he picked up while Haupenthal was brewing in Belize. It’s incredibly sweet and the 4 oz serving is enough at once, but I found myself going back for seconds and thirds. It’s one of the few beers I sampled more than once.

I can’t wait to see what comes from this and I wish Daniel the best of luck. I know I’ll be stopping by Dockside next time I’m in Vancouver. Will you?
