BC Beer – Dead Frog Lager

January 27, 2010

I picked up the Dead Frog mixer to try their new 2.5 Anniversary Ale – a smoked amber ale. So expect to see 3 more BC Beer posts with Dead Frog coming soon. Dead Frog is a relatively new brewery in BC, if you couldn’t have guessed. Based out of Aldergrove they are an off shoot of the defunct Backwoods Brewery. For what this beer is I liked it. So, let’s talk about it.

It is a fairly bright golden with bright white head which leaves some lacing. It smells like fresh-cut hay mixed in with some hay that is starting to get moldy. It also has a little light cereal grain combo going on with a light, zesty citrus finish. Dead Frog Lager has a sweetness to it with light maltiness and, again, a little cereal grain combo. Has nice carbonation, a light body, and an even finish. It has more European Pale Lager profile going on, however, I found it to better than most of those offered over there. Would I buy more? We’ll see. I certainly know I would drink more.
