BC Breweries Winning More Awards

June 4, 2010

First at the Calgary International Beer Festival, Dead Frog was presented with two gold (!) medals.  One for best domestic lager with their Dead Frog Lager.  The other was People’s Choice and that was given to Dead Frog’s Pepper Lime Lager. I’ll still stand by say it’s a good beer.

Next up we got the The North American Brewers Association Beer Awards. Not sure who they are. Their website has this to say about them:

The North American Brewers Association TM (NABA) is a non-profit foundation. The NABA mission is to secure beer’s role in our culture and society through the advancement of brewing quality and consumer education.

The North American Brewers Association TM was founded in late 1996. Since that date, NABA has undertaken the organizational development of corporate policies, procedures, memberships, as well as the sanctioning of beer awards, beer festivals, and a beer judging and evaluation course. NABA has over 40 members.

A total of eight medals were unevenly doled out to three breweries.

Howe Sound won:
Silver – Pothole Filler Imperial Stout
Bronze – Garibaldi Honey Pale Ale
Gold – King Heffy Hefeweizen
Gold – King Heffy Hefeweizen
Silver – Baldwin & Cooper Best Bitter
Silver – Devil’s Elbow IPA

That’s right. The soon to released in bottles King Heffy won double gold.

R&B Won:
Silver – Sungod Wheat Ale

Tree Won:
Silver – Doppelbock Captivator
