BC Beer – Tree Vertical Winter Ale

December 18, 2010

Tree released a second winter ale, alongside their Spiced Reserve Ale, this year. It’s only available in the winter mixed pack so, expect a few more beers from Tree to be featured here. It looks like it replaced the Spy Porter. I really hope that’s not the case.

Vertical Winter Ale jumps out at you with a strong aroma of vanilla followed by succulent caramel. Following through on the taste Vertical is joined by toffee and subtlest of floral hops. With a light-medium body it finishes lightly-sweet. In a nut shell Vertical Winter Ale is like caramel wrapped in vanilla. Really digging this beer, it reminds me of Granville Island’s Winter Ale but much better. I wouldn’t call it a winter warmer, but it is making me feel good. Really needs to be in a six-pack.
