So Many New Beers

December 21, 2010

There are so many I’ve missed. I’m going to try any recap them all quickly now.

Dead Frog have come out with their first bomber, a winter warmer, called Christmas Beeracle.

Howe Sound have three new ones. First is Boomers Canadian Red Ale. One dollar of every purchase goes to a charity to help our troops.

Andrew “Boomer” Eykelenboom was a native of western Canada and a medic with the Canadian Armed Forces. On his last mission to Afghanistan in 2006, for which he volunteered, he was killed by a suicide bomber. Boomer was known to have an appreciation for good red ales, and this “Canadian Red Ale” is brewed in his honor. It is a smooth red ale, brewed with 5 different malts with Magnum and Perle hops.

Howe Sound has just recently bottled up their 11% barleywine, Woolly Bugger. And third is Megadestroyer, a 10% imperial licorice stout brewed for the Alibi Room’s 200th tap list party tomorrow. It will feature a very limited bottle release.

Cannery has released No Jail Pale Ale. Living up to its name it comes in at 3%. I believe it is draft only.

Mt Begbie have come out with a dunkel called Bob’s your Dunkel.

Big River is offering bottles of their beers. Their excellent winter seasonal, Gingerbread Man, is one of those on offer.

The Moon Under Water is now doing growler fills, however, they now do not have any for sale. Luckily, Phillips down the road does sell growlers.

Kamloops’ Noble Pig are also filling growlers. They’ve also recently brewed a Christmas ale.

I know I’m missing some more. There is just too much going on in BC for me to keep up with. And I love it.
